Mourning doves, pair, one sick

A pair of mourning doves flew out of bushes, one had trouble flying, didn't look injured so probably had eaten something bad for it.

Jewelweed pops and scatters seeds

Impatiens capensis,  orange jewelweed, touch-me-not, Impatiente du Cap,

seed pod husk springs into spirals and scatters the seed. The sap of the jewelweed also can help with itchy skin after coming in contact with nettles or poison ivy.

Cherries didn't develop

I thought I was going to get a lot of cherries this year but only got a few! The rest did not develop, so I think that whatever fertilized them last year is gone. I've planted two other varieties (these cherries, like apples, need other varieties to pollinate them) but they haven't flowered yet.

Red sun over Petro-Canada

Editorial photo. Today the sun was very red from the smoke from the forest fires. Petro-Canada is a gas and oil company in Canada, and global warming from fossil fuel emissions probably have contributed to the increase in forest fires.

Yellow red sunlight from forest fires

Smoke from the forest fires across Canada have turned the sunlight a reddish yellow! 

 

Dock spider guarding eggs

Dock spider (Dolomedes genus) guarding egg clutch. Not dangerous but I won't be reaching over to turn on the light switch without looking anymore.
