Lower Town, Quebec City, c. 1989

I was in Quebec City from 1987 to 1990 - these are some photos I took I think in 1989 in Lower Town.

Little boy in electric jeep

Friend from Vancouver became a  calèche driver - this might be his horse

Inside the turret of the apartment, the exterior of which is above - lady let me in, nice woman from Indonesia!

Racist and crazy graffiti in Upper Town - "Fécondez-vous en Français" 'Get Pregnant in French' "Vive La Loi 101" 'Hurray for Bill 101', which banned the public use of English,  and "Vive Québec Libre Francophone Féconde", 'Hurray for Quebec Free Francophone Fertile'

Anti-racist grafitti in Lower Town "No War No KKK No Fascist Quebec End Police Oppression"

Vandalized stop sign with Stop painted out to form 101.

Mail St-Roch which was renamed Mail Centre-Ville, as St-Roch had acquired a bad reputation for gangs they called 'Rockers', and the mall was described as 'moribund' by the city and torn down in 2007
